If you're looking to complete a step-installation project yourself, here are a few instructions to guide you towards the perfect outcome. Always feel free to reach out to National Block & Ready-Mix if you need any further assistance.


  • Step 1: Measure
    Take a measurement from the ground up to the porch top. We can help determine the number of steps needed. Also, measure the width needed. For single replacement, steps measure the width and the height.
  • Step 2: Measure Again
    Just to be sure.
  • Step 3: Prepare the Base
    Make sure it is hard-packed and level. Having a level concrete pad sure helps.
  • Step 4: Place The Step On Your Prepared Pad
    With just one step, set it firmly on your pad making sure it is level. With two or more steps, set your precast riser in place then place the steps down. A good option to assure placement and leveling is to mix some concrete patches into putty and spread them along the base of each step.
